I am a board certified health physicist, currently employed by The Boeing Company as chairperson of the enterprise-wide Radiation Safety Technical Committee.

I took my undergraduate degree in physics at Reed College.  After that I spent a couple of years studying physics and education at Washington State University.  I served as an instructor for the introductory physics labs.   During that time I obtained a teaching certification from the State of Washington in Physics and Mathematics.

I taught high school physics and mathematics for four years.  During that time I earned a Master's degree in Science Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Washington.

I  graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology Master's in Health Physics program.  During my studies I passed both the certification exams given by the American Board of Health Physics.  I was the first student from the IIT program to do so.

I hold black belts in Judo and Aikido, and also practice Tai Ji Quan.  I work out and instruct at the Enumclaw Ki Haku Judo Club.  My Tai Chi instructor was Ronald Jorgensen.

I live with my children Gerard and Brita, and our dog Billy.
