The ulu is a traditional Alaskan woman's knife. It is used for skinning, gutting and filleting fish, cutting hides, etc.. This one has a walrus tooth handle and a cariboo antler stand. This is Janet's favorite ulu. She uses it to chop nuts and herbs in a wooden bowl.
This ulu has a moose antler handle and stand.
Danhua and I put together this ulu using a Brusletto blade, and our new shop tools. The stand is a piece of an old walnut chair. The finish is linseed oil. Scales are of an unknown burl we had around the shop.
